Undergrid,

MCM2 is legendary game, and suprisingly enough you cant get 100+fps on a TNT2, unless you push it along with a 4 ghz overclocked P4....... and turning on all the features means the rendering of the roost, and an increased draw distance, the sky (Which are generally custom now and thus quite demanding) and also true rendered shadows..... But then i wouldnt expect you to understand, i mean you never ranked top 5 on the ORN like me.....

I dont even run an FX card...... i'm very happy with my GF4 Ti 4600, no need to upgrade to an FX5900 just yet, Nvidia have other things up their sleeves and i'm kinda waiting for those....besides i can outperform a lot of 9700's with this card so why would i upgrade??

As far as the drivers go, in another post the drivers are up for the ATI cards. I went in picked my OS ( XP) and when I went to the pick your product I couldn't find it. My card is a ATI Radeon 9100. I see everything else but that . Is there another one that I could pick from that link or should I go to their site and get them from there?
I'd just like to have them in case the latest greatest game that comes out doesn't work well and I will have them on hand to check off the list as to why it doesn't work.

By the way, my bud is running basically the same system as me, P4 2.4, 512 DDR, XP, running at 1152x864 blah blah, but he is running a Gforce 4 and to tell you the truth we can't see any difference. I mean if we ran such and such a benchmark ( insert preference here) I'm sure one would say it's better than the other.
If it looks good and runs good....
The one problem that I did have was some wierd white boxes in Spearhead which turned out to be a blood mod that I had installed for MOHAA.

mrstella

well your all silly for using cards by both companies that cheat on the 3d scores

Matrox Parhelia owns u all  :booty:  :moon:

Spike!!

Jeezus man cant u see there is a heated dicussiongoing off here!! I'm just waiting for the resident fanATIc to reply to my post...... but to answer the drivers for the3 radeon series of cards is the same, a Universal driver structure again ripped off from Nvidia, so the latest version of the catalysts should see ya right bruv....

As far as Stella's post goes, LMFAO, PMSL, ROTFLMFAO /me shouts for a nurse to come and sew my sides up as they have split......

Nice one stells, it was supposed to be the bomb, but turned out to have quite a dodgy fuse and a distinct lack of explosive lol

Hmm seems not many people have heard of ORN either...  Some league perhaps?  Probably only five players in it..

And you have to turn on the sky???  Talk about a rubbish game..

I completely agree, why bother upgrading?, if your happy with an inferior card and lower quality graphics then don't waste your money!

As for speed, well a few people seem to disagree:

You can outperform a stock 9700 with a stock Ti4600? now you are dreaming. That's like saying "my Ford Mondeo can out-accelerate your Porsche 911".

Neeeeever gonna happen.

Yup, thats the one I have.  Its got heatsinks on the back as well, with a nice fan shaped one positioned over the GPU to get rid of some of that excess heat.  All copper as well  :D

The standard Catalyst 3.4 reference drivers should work just fine, get them here.

Now where did i say my card was stock?? Where did i say that?? I didnt did i..... strange that one......mainly cos you KNOW my card aint stock....... amazing what u can do with a little clocking of the FSB and the card itself.....

UG, you really didnt look hard enough did you?? The ORN shut its doors a couple of years ago, but an archive is kept alive here.......

http://www.woodyscreation.org/~mcmlinks/orn/index.htm

Look under the 250 hotlaps - see the guy in 5th, Archangel_X thats me..... and FYI there were almost 1500 people used to play MCM2 on the ORN..... hardly a league of 5 people....... when i stopped playing competitivley i was in 3rd, Oak and Cane got me at the last minute before some idiots hacked the proggy and caused the Masked Chicken to shut the site.....

Hmm, so, what you are saying is that by overclocking your Ti4600 you can beat the 9700? hmmmm ok... well, I could say "with enough cooling, I can overclock a Ti500 so much that it could easily beat the FX5900."

But at the end of the day, you gotta compare like for like, otherwise the comparison is meaningless... comparing an overclocked card of one make with a stock card of another make is not good scientific method. You should know better, Dr. Millington ;)
