Where to buy?

So I'm ordering STO and wondering where to buy?

Amazon is incredibly cheap but seems to be delaying the release date, and no guarentee of getting into the headstart.
Play is expensive and the only aparent bonus is a uniform code (no borg/ship).
Zavvi is cheaper than play, but no mention of headstart access.

I've no idea what the steam, impulse or direct2drive deals are, I can't see them from work.

Any reccomendations?

after reading amazon's forums it does seem that there will be no further headstart keys issued from them which is a bit pants

hmv (24.99) say they'll send you a headstart code but their seller 'bonus' is a tribble... whoop de doo

d2d (29.99) bonus is:
Personal Shield
Multi-Spatial Personal Shield. This advanced personal shield system is based on Borg technology, which constantly regenerates itself and the health of its wearer.

They are also still claiming the ob/headstart code is available

The deluxe edition from D2D is 39.99 and also includes the shield

rover

i wouldnt use steam as there /were asking £49
ive gone with amazon as am not fussed about the first few days of the server's been fully online due to the fact that it will fall over a few times

Can anyone check http://www.impulsedriven.com/ and see if they list STO and for how much please?

And whats the difference between the D2d standard and delux editions?

D2D deluxe comes with the shield and these additional items for the extra tenner:

Original Star Trek Uniform Set
Three uniforms from the original series (blue, red, yellow).

Exclusive "KHAAAN!" Emote
An unforgettable moment from the second Star Trek Film. This exclusive emote allows players to relive Kirk's unforgettable moment of fury, with the timeless cry... "KHAAAN!"

Exclusive Klingon Blood Wine Toast Emote
Raise a glass like a Klingon! Greet other players with an exclusive Klingon gesture - the blood wine toast.

Unique Registry Prefix
Give your ship the coveted NX prefix, seen only on a handful of elite Starfleet vessels like the Defiant, 22nd century Enterprise, and Prometheus.

Unique Ship Item
Automated Defense Battery. This Tactical Module grants any ship a passive 360 arc attack power with a short range.

Joined Trill Race
The ability to play as a "Joined Trill" - a symbiote that grants you several lifetimes of experience.

Impulse Driven lists the standard version for 30.67 and the deluxe for 36.81

Impulse Driven's bonus is:
Your account will be preloaded with 500 Cryptic Points, which can be used to purchase a variety of things from the Cryptic Store like costume and characters enhancements, emblems and extra character slots.

To put that in perspective, 500 Cryptic Points is worth about £4.40.

I cancelled my amazon pre-order and then re-ordered from shopto.net - today they sent me a pre-order open beta and headstart code - so I have a spare headstart code if anyone wants one :).

Also I heard that game.co.uk is still giving out keys if you pre-order.
I play games on a:
ZX Spectrum 48K | Grundig C410 cassette recorder (adjustable head) | 20BT TV Philips Multistandard Color V37cm | ZX Interface 2 | New Kempston Compatible Competition Pro Switched Joystick | Sinclair BASIC OS

I wouldn't give anyone that headstart code, it might be linked to your regular code, best not to risk it I think.

I want with direct2drive uk, just under 40GBP but some nice extras, the linked trill are supposed to allow you to learn more skills.

I've gone ahead and pre-ordered from Steam (just the bog standard version) as I figured you get a shield from the off but you don't get armour until you loot/buy it, meh it'll only be useful for so long anyway I guess  :cop:

For anyone else that orders from steam, you get your preorder key by installing the game (the beta is listed in the games tab near the bottom)
