Telewest to increase cable speeds by 50% - free!

Seems that Telewest are going to a 3Mb service in May - and they are increasing everyone's connection speed by 50% at no extra charge!! And it looks like NTL are increasing their speeds too. Nice!

Well, it's not mentioned... so I guess not.  

Still, my 1Mb service has 256k upload, and I really don't use it 99% of the time...

Got a call yesterday from a friend who bragged about his new line. He got from his ISP a 100 Mbit/sec (guaranteed in their own net) fiber service.  
The price? Activation: ÃÆ'ââ,¬Å¡Ãƒâ€šÃ,£64, Monthly fee: ÃÆ'ââ,¬Å¡Ãƒâ€šÃ,£64, Allowed traffic/month: 300GB

The fastest DSL available here is 32MB for ÃÆ'ââ,¬Å¡Ãƒâ€šÃ,£32/month. But not in my town, I have to struggle with only 8.
