Changes, updates and additions to hs6

I've been busy seeing as my workload is refreshingly clear :D

I've installed a local stats server for hammy6. stats can be viewed at

hamsterserver.com-6 has an irc channel on quakenet; #hs6

in this channel, you'll find your local friendly ut2003 bot, hammy6, who will spam erm inform the channel about game events as and when they happen. It's more of an aid to me so i can see if there are any problems whilst i'm at work but feel free to add it to your perform list ;)

I'm hoping to install some anti-cheat software and an automated console spammer in the near future.

UTSecure actually managed to dump me out last night  :?

If anyone gets kicked by UTSecure, can they please make a note of the map that was loading at the time and we'll see if there's a pattern.

Also, hs6 is now running the epic bonus pack (DE bonus pack was already installed)

This gives us some more maps and some new game modes too. i'm not going to add the new maps to the standard rotation, as you can never guarantee that players have actually installed the bonus pack.. however they're there for when we organise some hamster-only events ;)

    Info on the new game types, taken from the epic pack readme:

    MUTANT:  Initially, its a free for all deathmatch.  However, as soon as one guy makes a kill, he becomes the Mutant. Everyone else stops fighting (you can't hurt each other anymore), and guns for the Mutant instead.  

    You score points by racking up kills while you're the Mutant:

    Normal Kill: 2 Points
    Double Kill: 3 Points
    Multi Kill (and above): 4 Points

    Mutants get all (non-super) weapons and lots of ammo, and have invisibility, agility and berserk.  However, their health slowly runs down and can only be replenished by killing other players. Also, everyone else has a radar showing where the mutant is.

    As an optional twist, the player with the lowest score is the BottomFeeder - he can also go around killing other players (with scores as a result).  As soon as his score isn't the lowest, a new player becomes the BottomFeeder. This makes the game more interesting when you have a wide variety of skills playing. The Mutant gets 5 points for killing the BottomFeeder.


    LAST MAN STANDING:  This is much like the Last Man Standing game from UT.  There's an option to get health back when you kill someone.  Also, if you stand in one place for too long, you get called out for camping (and your location shows up on everyone else's HUD).

    INVASION: In this game type, players band together to defend against waves of incoming monsters, each wave lasting between 90 seconds and 4 minutes.  

    Players cannot respawn if they die during a wave, but as long as one player makes it to the end of the wave alive, everyone respawns for the next wave.  Each wave contains a different combination of 12 different types of monsters.  

    Note that the monster difficulty is controlled by the bot difficulty settings in the menus.

Could you possibly take the instagib mutator off for a night plz?? I like the low grav but the instagib i find annoying at time, specially when its just bots since they are stupidly accurate.. actually the main reason is this, i miss my flak cannon..... :D

I just think it would be a good laugh to have the stock weps on for a few hours....

i'm away over the weekend - i'll set it going without either (but maybe floaty cadavers) before i leave work tonight but if it dumps and reloads i'm afraid it'll be back to instagib lowgrav

bots are on auto-adjust so you'll have to stop killing them if you want them a bit easier!

I've reset the utstats database. This is because i've changed the app to ignore matches with only one player, before it starts getting silly. Changes to the config are not reflected on previously processed data, so the only way to back-date the changes is to manually go through the data and edit stuff.. Not something i could be arsed to do with nearly 70 games already in there :D

Sorry, but you'll just have to prove how good you are by earning all those nice stats again ;)

Hopefully this will be the last tweak to the stats db, and i'll not have to reset again!

Latest update:

Server will now automatically restart if the process crashes out. It will restart the game type as specified in the schedule i've created.

My next job is to get the server to change gametype whilst it's up to keep in sync with the schedule :D
