PSU about to go boom?

Evening all.

My PSU has started to make a lot of noise.  I don't know anything about them, but aren't they supposed to last a bit longer than a year?

Anyway, I ordered a new quiet one from www.quietpc.com.

If anyone has one from them post below what's it's like.

I will be only be on-line for a little bit the next couple of days.  The noise is very disturbing

Probably nothing really terminal about the noise. Your fan bearing will be starting to wear and as a result when it's cold, it's noisy. You'll probably notice the noise slipping away as the whole thing heats up.

Pretty much spot on really.  Doesn't make a noise for a minute, then sounds like the end of the world.  Then goes quiet after 10 minutes or so.

Still, that 10 minutes will drive me mad

PSU = Power Supply Unit, i.e. the bit inside your pc that gives power to everything

That was quick.  Ordered it Wednesday evening and it got here this morning (With some help from the postie )

And I managed to fit it without blowing up the PC.  (I normally just take it to the shop and tell them what I want doing to it.)
