Tried to get on HS1 tonight on this map. I'm assuming it's the Siegfried Line.

Goes through all the loading right up to when it should switch to the game and then I get server disconnected. I've got the map, and I even downloaded it again just in case.

Any ideas???

Common problem that a lot of us have experienced. Any body any answers Please let us all know.

On the subject of maps, where do I get the 'maromg' map???

Couldn't find it on the downloads.

FFF - the maps change quite regularly; it catches us all out

not sure how many different versions there are, but the one from our download sections worked for me ;)

Also the way that the auto-kicker works you may be unlucky and join the server (ie start loading the map) just before a ping sample is taken. The way that the autokicker worked on HS1 (until tonight) you would then have had to fully load the map within 30 seconds to avoid getting kicked.

ie - the autokicker sampled everyones' pings every 15 seconds and compared them to the maximum allowable ping; if you pinged over that for three consecutive samples then the autokicker would boot you.

Now if you tried to join just after a sample had been taken then you'd have the full 45 seconds (3 x 15) to load the map; if it was just before the sample was taken then you'd only have ~30 seconds (2 x 15) to load the map as your first sample would show a ping of 999ms - which is what you ping when loading a map.

However (thanks to Skidmark) we have got our hands on v1.2 of the autokicker which allows us to take more frequent samples without loading the server as heavily.

So the autokicker on HS1 is now set to sample every 9 seconds and if you go over the ping limit for five consecutive samples then you will get booted. In practice (when joining) this means that if you're unlucky you will have 36 seconds to load the map and if you're lucky then you'll have the full 45 seconds. The average should be around 40 seconds and TBH if you can't load a map in 40 seconds then there is something amiss with your machine.

Please do not ask the admins to help you fix this as that is not what we are here for.

As far as increasing the timelimit - well the whole point of it is to boot people off who are causing the server to lag badly while they are playing. I don't know about you guys but I reckon 45 seconds of lagginess is more than enough to put up with!

OK, thanks guys. :)

Hmmm, already had the maromg map.

Couldn't even get passed the upload screen last night. :(

Tha map loading time may be the cause as I'm using an AMD600.

Definitely not my in game pings though. :)

I'll just keep trying.

Undergrid

There are two versions of the maromg map, a DM and an OBJ, make sure you have the right version, or get them both (available in the downloads area)..  that one caught me out to :)

The DM maromg map is here, the link above is the OBJ one.

Thanks Undergrid, didn't have the DM one. :)

The Siegfried Line map has to be the most frustrating map Ive played so far, spent most of the map picking shrapnel out of my teeth as member of the allied team.  The allies spawn outside and you have to go down a ladder to get into the complex and you was met either by a hail of bullets or a grenade bouncing your way.  This was my first time on the map, is there other ways into the complex or do you spawn inside as well?  :?  :)

You always spawn outside near the lorries etc.

The axis spawn by the machine gun bunker and inside the complex.

There is an entrance to the complex behind the machine gun bunker; it's difficult to get past, and does take some teamwork, but you can sometimes force yourselves round the very edges of the concrete bollards.

Once you've cleared the axis from the mg bunker, you can push on into the complex - they spawn to your left and right, but the objective is straight on.

The map loading time limit is definitely the problem I'm having.

Doesn't happen too much at the moment, though it took 5 attempts to get in to one map but I managed. Just a bit of perserverence on my behalf.

Had a good time last night, first time on many of the objective maps.

Cheers guys. :)
