With Starcraft 2 getting a proper release date of 27th July 2010 - retailers are now offering beta slots if you pre-order. Game.co.uk are the ones that are offering beta slots here in the UK. I got a key off blizzard - one day before it was being offered through Game. Oh well - will have to download the beta sometime this week :D
I play games on a:
ZX Spectrum 48K | Grundig C410 cassette recorder (adjustable head) | 20BT TV Philips Multistandard Color V37cm | ZX Interface 2 | New Kempston Compatible Competition Pro Switched Joystick | Sinclair BASIC OS

Happy birthday to you,
you can't have hot food,
your frozen stuff's melting,
and you can't play games too.

Is that the kind of thing?  :new-bday:

Anyway, got a call from the neighbour a bit back and the powers back on, guess I need to dump the content of the fridge and freezer though  :psyduck:

Been killing through the Campaign. Some nice missions so far, although the difficulty lvl seems off. Playing on normal and there hasn't been that many problems that lots of killing units can't sort out :D

It's got a nice story, but as for all the 10/10 scores its been getting, it doesn't deserve it. It's a damn cookie cutter RTS, now that I have had a good chance to play quite a few campaign missions (think I'm halfway through). I did naively think that we'd see more new stuff once it was out of beta, but it's seen nothing new since Starcraft was released back in the day - one sane reviewer on metacritic said:

Quote
"Company of Heroes, Dawn of War 2 and WarCraft 3 are all more modern than this game. StarCraft II throws RTS evolution back by several years. The Campaign is "OK", not very exciting so far, and multiplayer is basically the same it was 10 years ago."

Damn straight! Stupid generic timed missions "ohhh, we have to do this in xx minutes before xx arrives and sets our arses on fire. Lets get moving! We dont want burnt arses!" and shit like that. Don't get me started about the multitude of scripted events either.

So yeah, I'm not overawed by Starcraft 2, but as I said the story is good, its not totally epic, but alright, so I will be finishing the campaign. However I will not be doing what one other reviewer on metacritic did:

Quote"This is by far the best RTS game since WC3. One sentence about the campaign: I cried nerd tears of happiness while i watched the ending-cinematic. I think this says everything."

Nerd tears of happiness? Jesus H. Christ son! What the hell do you think you are? Some sort of pansy lilly assed girl?! Nerd tears of happiness indeed!

Overhyped bollocks, just like that new Sherlock Holmes series on tv.
