That fps what you get as normal 210  8O  ?? .

Calibrax

yep, on most maps  8) ... but it drops to about 80 on Gatehouse Assault for some reason. My video card is a GeForce3 Ti500 (on which I have slightly "tweaked" the clock speeds...)

Keep the game in 16-Bit Colour, pointless shoving it up to 32-Bit as your eyes can only do up to 24 Bit - 16 Million Colours. And you will see sod all difference between 16 Bit and 32 Bit  :D - Even just dropping the colour depth from 32 to 16 will bring an increase in fps, theres quite a few graphics options in mohaa to play with.

I usually play at 800x600 gives me a good balance between a decent resolution and frame rate.

But having said all that, anything above 30fps and brain cant tell any difference because the images are moving too fast so the brain blurs and combines all the images together, it may look a bit smoother, but theres not much point really. If you currently get 40-50fps or more in game, you aren't going to notice any difference if you ever manage to get the fps away up to 100fps or above.
I play games on a:
ZX Spectrum 48K | Grundig C410 cassette recorder (adjustable head) | 20BT TV Philips Multistandard Color V37cm | ZX Interface 2 | New Kempston Compatible Competition Pro Switched Joystick | Sinclair BASIC OS

I agree, 16 bit is the way to go. But on the fps, you should make sure that it's over 30 at it's absolute lowest.... you can have a frame rate of 90, but if you get into a firefight, the framerate can drop dramatically on some maps. Make sure you are above 30 in fights, because slowdown in a fight is that last thing you want, believe me!

I run at 1152x864, this means that the text etc on screen is not too obtrusive. Don't run all options at their highest... you won't notice much difference between "high" and "highest" or "max", so you might as well run on "high" for a better framerate.

Also,I turn EVERYTHING off when playing MOHAA... IE, email software, KaZaA, Morpheus, mIRC, etc.... I even disable my antivirus. Anything that might take up CPU time or bandwidth. Even with a P4 2GHz (which is what I have), it really does make a difference.

Happy fragging!

Plus since most of you run 2k/XP systems then you might want to read this page (for Win XP Systems) and this page (for Win 2k Systems) as win 2k and XP run a lot of uneeded services and crap in the background :D

As i said in an eralier post i have 2 PC`s and one of them runs at around 90 fps and one runs at about 50  :(  both smilar spec .
The one thats runs at 50 drops to 20 on some maps which has the same effect as getting lagged out and when you get into a close range firefight you usually end up fragged .
Certain maps seem to be much worse than others .
The one that now runs at 90 was about the same performance as the one which runs at 50 until i upgraded from ME to XP .

For those of you whose fps remains stuck at around 90fps on most maps then try bringing down the console at the main menu and typing in

com_maxfps 300

[It seems you only have to do this once as the game remembers the setting, however you can create a custom.cfg file in your mohaa main directory and put the above command into it - just in case mohaa ever decides to forget it]

There - you have now reset the maximum fps mohaa can go to :D (up to a maximum of 300). The default is 85 - which explains why the fps never got any farther than 80-90fps.

I have found that after a morning spent playing with my new geforce 4, I can get over 130 fps on some maps :D (hmm methinks its time to chuck the old Athlon 1.1GHz 200FSB CPU in the other pc and get myself an XP processor and some DDR Ram if I can afford it - then see what fps my geforce 4 is really capable of! 8O)

(I still cant really tell the difference between 30 fps and 130fps though )

Yep... I did this a long time ago, which is why my framerate is much higher in the screenshot than the standard fps.

ahh well... start playing the gatehouse map at 30fps, get into the courtyard area, then into a firefight. You'll soon see the difference, because the framerate will drop from 30fps to about 4fps!!

whereas with 130, it would drop to 100...
