Been playing this for well over a week now, its great :D

You get to control a wide range of emergency vehicles, dealing with stuff like car crashes, fires, cleaning up after terrorist bombs, train wrecks etc...

There are 20 missions in the game and then you also have freeplay mode in which you are in charge of an entire city where disaster could strike at any moment (and usually does!).

The game has been out in germany now for quite some time. Its also useful to install the patches from the website

http://www.emergency3.de/download/Emergency3_Patch1.01DE.exe

and

http://www.emergency3.de/download/Emergency3_Patch1.02DE.exe

You will notice the next time the game runs the language will change to german, however its easy enough to go into the cfg file in Program Files\sixteen tons entertainment\Emergency 3\em3.cfg and change the language value from de back to en :D.

Anyway, yes mods, as well as the main forum for E3 http://www.sixteen-tons.de/forum/index.php?c=6  you can also find mods  on http://www.emergency-3.de/portal/index.php - I'm sure as time goes on english mods will appear ;). But hey a quick run through with babelfish should get you the gist on what each mod does.

And finally here are some obligtary screenies (I'm using a mod which changes the emergency vehicles to the type used in Hamburg)

Fire Engines

Police

Ambulances

There are some other vehicles like city engineer, salvage crane and a bridge laying vehicle. Didnt get time to take a screenie of those because:

Fire!

Fire  Engines sent to put fire out pt1

Fire Engines sent to put fire out pt2

Will add some screenies of big fires in the morning or in the afternoon :D

Installing the mods is easy enough as the 1.01 patch comes with a handy mod installer (which is why its useful to install the patches ;))

Modding the missions and freeplay mode is quite easy too as the mission scripts are all in xml and/or plain text file .script format

I have modded the freeplay mode to the following

File changed: Program Files\sixteen tons entertainment\Emergency 3\Data\Specs\freeplayparameters.xml

<!-- JH -->
<RandomFire AverageFrequency="0.1"/>
<!-- AverageFrequency: average number of events per 10 minutes -->

<!-- JH -->
<FireByDroppedCigarette AverageFrequency="0.3" MaxDropDistance="10.0"/>
<!-- AverageFrequency: average number of events per 10 minutes -->
<!-- MaxDropDistance: in meter -->

<!-- JH -->
<HeartAttack AverageFrequency="0"/>
<!-- AverageFrequency: average number of events per 10 minutes -->

<!-- JH -->
<FlashStrike AverageFrequency="0" DamageRadius="5.0"/>
<!-- AverageFrequency: average number of events per 10 minutes (gets multiplied by timezone parameter "flash/frequenceyfactor") -->
<!-- DamageRadius: in meter -->

<!-- AE -->
<GasExplosion AverageFrequency="0.1"/>
<!-- AverageFrequency: average number of events per 10 minutes -->

All other events were set to "0" - this gave me a small number of fires every now and again with no other events to annoy me, and enough time to put out the current fire before the game spawned a new fire. You can edit the values to increase or decrease their freqency. You can have other things like people running around with guns, shoplifters, car thieves etc...

if you feel like editing the win or lose conditions of the missions you can find them in "Program Files\sixteen tons entertainment\Emergency 3\Data\Scripts\Game\Mission"

Also the game puts "Current Information" link into the game folder on the start menu - this contains quite a few hints for the freeplay mode!

http://www.em-mods.de/ <-- very cool mods and skins (including a USA mod for Feuerwehr - means: Fire Engine)

Rettungsdienst means Rescue Service\Ambulance. And THW is for the city works vehicles like the Engineer, salvage crane etc...

I can recommend Noels Fahrzeugmod under "Fahrzeug-Mods" on that site (Its not the mod shown in the screenshots above)

Another site is: http://www.emergency3.info/ (Again its in german :P)

A walkthrough in german for the first 15 missions is here (use babelfish :P) http://www.emergency-3.de/portal/modules.php?name=Content&pa=list_pages_categories&cid=1
