ADSL Sucks 9Line Noise)

Hi

Does anyone know how you can get the line loss down, my ADSL has been working fine until wednesday and then i cannot connect to jack. Not even the BT Test servers.

Been speaking with BT today (actually quite helpful SHOCK) and the guy was saying that when they tested the line it was ok but has now shot up to 66dba so outside the limits of ADSL and hence the reason its buggered.

An engineer is coming tomorrow morning (hooray) to have a look and see what he can do, but is there anything that i can do to reduce the noise or is it a BT thang.

Pretty much a BT thing. But you can help by making sure your phone-to-PC lead is not near any power cables, and also make sure the lead is straight, not all coiled up. Both of these things can cause noise, but not to the levels you're getting. Hope the engineer can help.

Im not sure but i don't think BTs noise test actually tests the internal cabling in your house - just the run from the exchange to your house.

I agree with the Flt Lt. about this being a BT thing. Best wait and see what the tech says

That's right, but they will check your connectors to make sure they are ok too. The line noise could be caused by a faulty microfilter, for example.

Look here for info on what they do in the tests for ADSL, and a couple of tips.

But if they installed ADSL in the first place, then the line must have passed all the tests... so something must have changed in the meantime to increase the line noise.
