Hi guys im not liking my Claws/Regen Scrapper he seems a bit weak.

Now i'd like some input on what class and skills to choose and why?

I have looked around on the net but i just tohught i'd ask you guys to see what class is the most fun to level...

well i have to say that my claws regen is the most fun out of all mine!

rad/rad defender is also fun, but for me there's nothing quite like good old fashioned hand-to-hand violence erm i mean law enforcement  :D

i'd also say that captain pointy is far from weak - he's probably the char that's spent the least amount of time in hospital.

wanna share what level/skills? might just be in need of a respec

There isn't really a bad. Well, unless you really do something bizarre. :)

That said, with only one power from your secondary, you can't take the damage too well yet. When you have some more powers from there (e.g. dull pain, integration) you'll find you can take a lot more damage. Quick Recovery will also mean less running out of endurance.

I found with my scrapper (claws/super reflexes) he started getting a lot better at L16. Travel powers at L14 also make life easier - with superspeed and stealth you'll be effectively invisible so you can just waltz past most opponents if you want.

Also, as you get Dual Origin enhancements, and (at L22) Single Origin enhancements, you'll find you get a lot more powerful as well.

Regen is a great secondary on the whole I think. It's certainly one of the most popular.

More generally on hero classes as a whole - it really depends on what you want to do.

Scrappers are good for solo play - they can take/avoid damage and dish it out, and they can contribute to a team. A good all-round choice.

Tankers are slower to solo than scrappers, since they're more geared towards taking the damage than dishing it out. If you really focus on that side of things, solo play can be quite painful, especially at the lower levels - but you're potentially great in a team. Controllers and Blasters will love you.

Blasters can really put out the damage, but they're very squishy. They're soloable, but it can be trickier for them than for scrappers due to the squishiness. Get too much aggro, go splat.

Defenders are great in teams, with some awesome buffs and debuffs. But soloing is a bit slower, since the damage output isn't necessarily there - especially if you've focused on the buffs and debuffs. Depends on the set though - e.g. Kinetics has some nice damage buffs in there that could make life easier.

Controllers are (IMO) actually pretty good all-rounders. They get double-damage when their target is held/immobilised/asleep, which lets them potentially dish out a fair bit of damage, pets (depending on the set) for more, and buffs/debuffs from their secondary to potentially boost that. They are squishy though, so they can be a bit more challenging - if you get it wrong and a mass hold wears off before you thought it would, you can go splat very quickly.

Forgot to say, a very handy utility is this Character Builder. It's a character build planner (in case you didn't guess that from the name), it's handy for flicking through the archetypes and powersets to see what you can get and when you can get it.

If you try it, don't forget to do Setup->Check for Updates after installing - I can't remember if it's set to auto-update by default, but I don't think it is.

Ahh cool.

I will try that Hero builder out.

Seems i jsut need to level my scrapper a bit then to get to some more powers that will help me a bit more.

Maybe i wont re-roll just yet.

I've heard a lot of people moaning about certain skills not being very good such as spin etc.

So perhaps a respec will be in order soon but as i dont know whats good or not at the minute i may play it by ear.

If you want to try things out, you can use the test server. Copy your character to there, fire it up, and try out respecs there before you do them on the live server.

It's a bit of a faff, but it can be worth it if you're not sure about whether a particular build will work or not.
