As discussed on irc last night I need some help testing maps.

Basically if you have a second PC or one that you can multiboot to another OS you can help out.

What I'd like you to do is do a clean install of MoHAA, install the v1.11 patch and nothing else. Then pick one of the maps that Col has kindly put in the downloads section and install that.

Then on every map test every weapon (Axis and Allies) and make sure they work correctly and sound correct. Then test the sounds and graphics on the maps - eg open doors, jump off high walls etc etc. Do this in both DM and TDM modes.

Once that's done then test the new map. Fly around it in spectator mode and look for spots where people can get under the map (whether intentionally or not). Then have a wander around and test all the weapons. Make a note of whether you always spawn in the right place and where the Allied/Axis spawn points are. If it's an objective map then check out the objectives too.

If everything checks out OK then remove the new map and report back saying it seems OK. At that point hopefully one of the ickle Hamsterservers can run it for a couple of days to test the MP side of things. If that's OK then we can submit it to Barry's.

This is all stunningly boring but it needs to be done given the state of some of the maps out there. The more people that help out then the quicker the maps are available on HS5 and HS9.

Any volunteers?

I'd love to help... I've been toying with the idea of installing Linux as a second OS on my PC (might as well try and use up some of the 120GB hard drive!)

Can anyone point me in the direction of a website which would walk me through the process of installing/running dual boot Win XP / Linux? Once I've set it up, I'll be happy to test some maps.

Steve  :)

when you install linux, it'll install a bootloader anyway; just make sure you've installed your other os first (obviously have in this case) and work through the install

Errmm unless you're going to mess with Wine then you'll have a hard time getting MoHAA to work on Linux

Or am I missing something here?

Mags

I has 2 PC`s 1 running ME and 1 running XP Pro .
The 1 running XP is a clean install of XP has MOHAA the 110 and 111 patch and a 5 or 6 of additional maps only and no additional skins .If this is OK let me know what maps you want testing and i will try them out .

I was going to try Wine... I know someone who uses it and they tell me it runs MOHAA ok. I'll try it and see. If not, I might install 98SE instead  8O

I'd like to point out that  Skidmark has also been good enough to add some maps  :D  8)

Will running a clean MOH on a different partition be just as good?
