About long waiting times for Battlegrounds

QuoteWhat we're seeing: 2 issues that are the same issue, caused by server-side or client-binary mishandling of queue requests.

1) Joining a BG queue joins you as a group, even if you are solo. If you are solo it joins you as a 1-person party.

2) Being joined as a 1-person party shouldn't happen, and the BG queue system takes a long time to find you a match unless you're exceptionally lucky (>30 minutes in many cases).

I've verified this is a server issue or binary issue in the client (rather than a UI issue) by using the API function JoinBattlefield(0, false, false) to manually join.

This still results in the "oops, you're in the premade queue" situation above.

This is also the cause of the "always < 1 min" average queue time bug. In this case you are joined in the group queue and the UI is querying the average wait time for a single person queuing, but no single people are queuing (only 1-man parties) and thus the average wait time is always < 1 min and never updates.

How to work around in the short term:

Joining as a party with at least one other player will make you a 2-man party, which the queue knows how to deal with, and so you'll get greatly reduced wait times.

How to fix:

Either the client needs patching so that the underlying API code behind the JoinBattlefield API is sending out the right data to the server when we join solo, or else the server needs patching to put people in the correct queue when they join solo.

Hope that helps someone get this fixed promptly as it's destroying my PvP experience currently, and should be a pretty easy bug to squish (like 5 minutes probably).

Yeah thats the bit that puzzled me, but it may be due to the person being on a different battlegroup than ours. Also someone bizzarely said that being in Dalaran also affected queue times and they never got into a battleground from there. It was only when they moved to org, left the queue and rejoined that they got in. Until it's fixed we will hear a lot of weird theories and stuff while people try various combinations to get it fixed.
