it's not even the short term hassle of it - what happens if it turns out to be a classic like some are expecting, and you want to play it in 4-5 years time, after they've switched the authentication servers off??

it's such a short-term "once we have your money we don't care" attitude that the last thing I'm going to do is reward them for it.

if I'm going to have to download a crack for it, i see no point in paying for it in the first place.

No, all that securom stuff is still in there, just its bypassed by the thingymajig. Could still be dodgy enough to install the game if you dont want it hiding itself away in the o/s. At first glance it doesn't appear to be as bad as Sony's rootkit and seems to be a lot of FUD surrounding if its a "proper" rootkit or not, but then again who knows...

Anyway, with all this hoo-hah about Bioshock hopefully it will stop this sort of crap in the future... at least for a while anyway. It's certainly not helped it in the charts, medieval 2, a new Sims 2 expansion pack and Medal of honor Airborne is beating the pants off it in the Amazon pc games charts.

Ofc the publishers will blame poor sales on piracy..
