Title: FAQ's for visitors: What is a 'Smacktard'?
Post by: Tricky on May 14, 2003, 12:45:41 PM
I thought I'd post an answer to the second most asked question on our server when we're playing BF1942 and DC (The most asked question being 'why was I kicked?' - lol   ).

A smacktard is the special BF1942 name for an idiot - someone who does one or more of the following things:

But surely thats why server subbies became subbies so we could insult the admins  :bad-words:

Is that the same as 'camping it up' on a sub?

Surely that part is legitimate?

The problem is that if someone enters the enemy fixed base (I'm not talking about capturable bases, just to clear that up  :D ) then they'll immediately be attacked, and they'll fire back naturally. At which point they're effectively doing the same thing as a spawn/basecamper. They'll have to fire at respawning enemies to defend themselves and it all gets messy. Accusations start flying, etc....

Rather than try to differentiate between basecampers and people who enter a fixed base to get equipment it's best to disallow people from entering enemy fixed bases. Also - the admins like to play the game too, not sit there watching for ages in case a person in an enemy base is a basecamper or just a 'joyrider'.

Personally speaking, if I see it happen I'll give the benefit of the doubt unless it's an obvious smacktard. Also, people parachuting into the enemy base after being shot down (NOT ON PURPOSE!!!) is not going to get them kicked - unless they hang around and spawnkill of course.

They don't snipe for long...       Sniping into a fixed base camp is as near as dammit spawnkilling.

Good point Tricky and IÃÆ'Ã,¢Ã¢ââ,¬Å¡Ã,¬Ã¢ââ,¬Å¾Ã,¢m all for a gentlemanÃÆ'Ã,¢Ã¢ââ,¬Å¡Ã,¬Ã¢ââ,¬Å¾Ã,¢s war   . This happened last night on our Aberdeen map where the Axis held all the flags and had a couple of tanks inside the allies fixed base massacring the re-spawns but isnÃÆ'Ã,¢Ã¢ââ,¬Å¡Ã,¬Ã¢ââ,¬Å¾Ã,¢t that flag capture-able if the allies have a non-fixed base elsewhere? Could get a bit complicated  8O . As for sniping, I noticed that sometimes you don't get to see where your killer is, thereby making it hard to go get him. Is this a option set up on the server?

Also on Omaha arenÃÆ'Ã,¢Ã¢ââ,¬Å¡Ã,¬Ã¢ââ,¬Å¾Ã,¢t both Axis flags capture-able while the Allies beach-head flag isnÃÆ'Ã,¢Ã¢ââ,¬Å¡Ã,¬Ã¢ââ,¬Å¾Ã,¢t?

Some maps have the ability to capture ALL flags, so when all people die on one team without SPAWN points, the game will finish.
I think berlin is a map with only 1 fixed spawn!

Yep, and some of the more inventive ones of us spend bl**dy hours looking for those hard to spot places to snipe from :)  You want me...come find me...the hard way! lol      :moon:

Where bases/flags aren't capturable, the flag will have a red cross over it. That's what we mean by a fixed base.

Any other base is capturable and fair game. In this situation I can only think of one possible smacktardy idea - which would be to sit just outside of range of the enemy flag and snipe all respawners, making no move to capture the flag, just to get your score up.

I decided long ago that Smacktards were in fact people who are so damn stupid as to not be able to listen properly and so when they are kids they were regularly "Smack'd'ard" and thus became less intelligent than the rest of us, and thus unable to follow even the simplist of rules....

But then i could be wrong.....

Hehe got this from smacktard.com :P

a whole section of every map is dedicated to smacktard tactics. This section includes a unlimited spawn plane with ai pilot to shoot down every 15 seconds. For a real treat we have filled most areas of the map with lost AI.. Smacktard's will chuckle with glee as they pass hundreds of swimming ai that just wave as they drive by in a boat. Hey yer a smacktard, and this is fun for you.

Although not a big fan of BF1942 due to not having a working online version, Ilove the idea of the smacktard torturer. I especially like the sound of the "Immediatly attacked by a swarm of enemy AI, ran over by a tank then fragged" solution.

Just to find a way to import it to MOHAA for TK-ers, Spawn Killeds, Land sharkers, weakness exploiters, Tele-naders, spawn misc objects into the middle of someone elses map and leave the battlers. Just MOHAA Smacktards really.

(Is there an equivalent to Smacktards for MOHAA?)
