Downloads - "Windows Can't Open"

I know I am really being thick with this one.

After downloading a map I get a window that says "Windows cannot open"  it then gives me the option to search the internet for something  or use a prog of my choice

Once I lose sight of this window - I never see it again  and can't find it using the search facility.  

Please tell me what I am doing wrong.

If the file you download ends with ".zip" then you need WinZip to open it. If it ends with ".pk3" you don't need to open it - just put it in your "MOHAA/MAIN" directory.
